#8 TED Talk

Rebecca Saxe: How we read each other's minds

https://www.ted.com/talks/rebecca_saxe_how_brains_make_moral_judgments#t-187311

Speaker :
Rebecca Saxe
Rebecca Saxe studies how we think about other people's thoughts. At the Saxelab at MIT, she uses fMRI to identify what happens in our brains when we consider the motives, passions and beliefs of others

Vocabulary :
1. Consequence (結果) :something that happens as a result of a particular action or set of conditions
Example : Many believe that poverty is a direct consequence of overpopulation.

2. moral (道德) : based on your ideas about what is right, rather than on what is legal or practical
Example : It is easy to have an opinion on a moral issue like the death penalty for murder.

3.adolescence (青春期) : the time, usually between the ages of 12 and 18, when a young person is developing into an adult
Example: During adolescence, boys are sometimes very shy and lacking in self-confidence.

4. permissible(允許的) : allowed by law or by the rules
Example :  As long as any advert does not bring the profession into disreputenor is in bad taste then it is permissible.

5.poison() : a substance that can cause death or serious illness if you eat it, drink it etc
Example :  He swallowed some type of poison.

My comment :
It's a very interesting TED to talk about how brain thinks about peoples' thoought , she research many kind of age , cheer, background ect. and research prove that people  learned to hinks about peoples' thoought in childhood and teenage to  adult  . She  research  a very influential science to change a people  moral judgment ,but I think each person is especial and unique,so  difficult to learn one's thought , that many misunderstand to people .

#7 Steve Jobs’ Talk

dots will somehow connect in your future
你沒辦法預見這些點滴如何聯繫,唯有透過回顧,可以看出彼此關聯

believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart
必須相信,無論如何,這些點滴會在未來互相連結,有些東西你必須相信,像你的直覺

You've got to find what you love
你必須找到你所愛的東西。
If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right.把每天都當成人生中最後一天來過,你就會很自在。

Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.

常保飢渴求知,常存虛懷若愚。

It is a very great speech ,not only the speaker Steve Job  Three story are very courage to me , and especially the second story , he fail many times and never give up . I am many things not smoothly recently , liten to his speech , I feel the thing isn’t serious to Steve Job , so I must be keep going and believe myself. And this talk inspire me what I do now , not only study in school subject and must be learn about other knowledge .

Katy Perry - Firework

"Firework" is a song by American singer Katy Perry from her third studio album, Teenage Dream .Perry wrote the song with Ester Dean and its producers StarGate and Sandy Vee. It is a dance-pop and dance-rock  with inspir lyrics, and Perry felt it was an important song for her on Teenage Dream.

Lyrics:

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting thought the wind
Wanting to start again
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards
One blow from caving in
Do you ever feel already buried deep
Six feet under scream
But no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you
You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July
'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on show 'em what your worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y
Baby you're a firework
Come on let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
You're gonna leave 'em fallin' down down down
You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you…

Vocabulary

1. ignite :  to start a dangerous situation, angry argumentetc

#4 BBC Learning English

It's attractive from the title  "What your lunch says about you "  and I think the lunch in nutrition at first .but actually in the 6 minute English is talk about lunch break in the UK .  A survey from 2012 showed a third of Britions eat exactly the same thing for lunch every day , and almost sandwiches ! Part of the reason only 25 minutes the average lunch break in the UK.   It's shock me that Britions eating habit in sandwich  and too short lunch break .
